The 28th Weifang International Kite Festival, sponsored by the General Administration of Sport of China, the International Kite Federation and Weifang Municipal People`s Government, will be held on the evening of April 16, 2011.
I. Opening Ceremony & Grand Theatrical Performances of the 28th Weifang International Kite Festival

II. Kite-Flying Performance, Competition & Exhibition
1. Weifang Kite Competition
Time: April 12th-17th
Location: Fuyanshan International Kite-Flying Field
2. Kite-Flying Performance Participated by Ten-Thousand People, the 7th World Kite-flying Championship, Chinese & Overseas Sport Kite Invitational Tournament
Time: April 17th-18th
Location: Fuyanshan International Kite-Flying Field
Kite delegations from 25 countries and regions of the world, as well as sport-kite flying teams from over 20 domestic provinces and regions, will compete in the 7th World Kite-flying Championship. About 110 kite-flying teams will take part in the Chinese & Overseas Sport Kite Invitational Tournament and the Kite-Flying Performance Participated by Ten-Thousand People.
3. The 1st (Weifang) Chinese & Overseas Luminous Kite-flying Invitational Tournament
Time: Evening of April 17th
Location: Weifang People`s Square
4. Awarding Ceremony for the 7th World Kite-flying Championship and the Chinese & Overseas Sport Kite-flying Invitational Tournament
Time: Evening of April 18th
Location: Weifang Fuhwa International Club
The winners of the 7th World Kite-flying Championship, the Chinese & Overseas Sport Kite-flying Invitational Tournament, and the Chinese & Overseas Luminous Kite-flying Invitational Tournament will be awarded at the ceremony.
5. The 6th Kite Festival for Primary and Middle School Students in Urban Districts of Weifang
Time: April 16th-22nd
Location: Primary and middle schools in urban districts of Weifang
Primary and middle school students in the urban districts will be organized to design, make and fly kites. Kite animation design and kite knowledge contest will be held.
6. The 4th China (Weifang) Kite Products Trade Fair
Time: April 14th-17th
Location: Yangjiabu Folk Art Museum
Representative Kites from membership of the International Kite Federation, Kites made by kite-making stars and professionals (will be auctioned after exhibition), and featured kites from China will be on display at the Fair, which attracts nearly 100 kite producing and trading companies. Weifang International Kite Festival Souvenirs Exhibition, woodblock new-year pictures and other folk products exhibition will also be held along with the Fair.
III. The 1st China Painting Festival - The 4th China (Weifang) Culture & Art Exhibition Fair
Time: April 16th-18th
Location: Weifang Fuhwa International Conference & Exhibition Center
The Fair includes eight blocks: the 1st China Painting Festival, Weifang Characteristic Culture Exhibition, Folk Art Exhibition, Modern Art Life Exhibition, Collections Exhibition, Classic Ceramics Exhibition, Classic Books Exhibition, and Ancient Jade Exhibition. The founding ceremony of National-level Weishui Culture & Eco-Protection Zone will also be held at the same time.
IV. The 6th Weifang Tourism Festival
Time: April 15th-19th
Location: Urban Districts of Weifang and Changle Gem City
Changle Jewelry Fashion Week, the Start-up Ceremony of 2011 Miss Tourism International China Final, the 1st Asia-Pacific (Weifang, China) Forum on City Wetland Culture & Tourism Industry, and other activities like photography, composition, and painting contests will also be held at the same time.
V. The 1st Weifang ``Red Sunset`` Culture Week for Seniors
Time: April 14th-18th
Location: Weifang People`s Square, World Kite Capital Commemoration Square
Chorus, dance, Yangko, waist drum, Taichi and other art forms will be displayed by the elderly in urban districts of Weifang. The ``Sunset Red`` Kite Culture and Calligraphy Exhibition will be held at the same time.
VI. The 7th ``Love of kite`` Fitness-Keeping Grand Parade
Time: Evening of April 17th
Location: Weifang People`s Square (East Shengli Street-Beihai Road-East Dongfeng Street-Dongfang Road-East Shengli Street)
With the theme of ``Love Kites Public Fitness-Keeping``, in the form of processions and the Parade will display the fitness-keeping achievements and local cultural characteristic, and to promote the cultural communication between China and the world.
VII. ``Harmonious Weifang`` Grand Lantern Show
Time: April 15th – May 2nd
Location: Weifang People`s Square
Featured Lanterns and lights on the square will create a harmonious and cheerful holiday atmosphere.
VIII. Weifang ``Three Zones`` Development & Investment Forum and Signing Ceremony for Key Investment-inviting Projects
1. Construction Projects Promotion Conference of ``Three Zones`` in Weifang

IX. The 2nd ``Renfang Cup`` Firework Show along Weishui River
Time: Evening of April 18th
Location: Bailang River Banks of Weifang Urban Districts
A 30-minute firework show will be seen along the Bailang River in the urban districts, to show the charm of the grand kite festival to guests from home and abroad.
X. Start-up Ceremony for Kite-Flying Performance Participated by Ten-Thousand People in Urban District
