The 36th Weifang International Kite Festival Opens in Binhai on April 20th

On March 22nd, the press conference of the 36th Weifang International Kite Fair was held in Beijing Media Center Hotel. Liu Beijian, chairman of the China Kite Association, attended the meeting. Zhang Jianwei, director of the Office of the Preparatory Committee of the 36th Weifang International Kite Festival and director of the Weifang International Kite Festival Office, introduced the related matters.

Themed with "Embracing the World, Sharing the Blue Sky and Flying Dreams", the 36th Weifang International Kite Festival will be opened on April 20th at the Binhai International Kite Flying Field in Weifang City. By thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of CPC, focusing on the “6-3-7-5-1” work arrangements of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, highlighting internationalization, massization, platformization, and marketization and branding, promoting excellent traditional culture, intensifying innovation and breakthroughs, deepening international non-governmental friendship, promoting investment and talents attraction and open development, exploring and enhancing brand value of the World Kite Capital, and strengthening the comprehensive kite festival benefits of cultural events setting the stage and trade activities playing the star role, building the kite festival into a high-end platform for foreign economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation and an international event full of traditional cultural characteristics, and promoting the construction of a new pattern of opening up.

In accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government to upgrade the level of the exhibition, three categories and 30 activities have been arranged for this year’s kite festival, including 14 theme activities, 11 economic and trade activities, and 5 cultural and sports activities. In addition to the annual Weifang Kite Competition and World Kite Championships and other traditional events, many items such as the launching ceremony of Weifang International Talent Week, AOPO Aviation Carnival, Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage and Kite Ambassador Float Parade, International Circus Carnival, and Extreme Motorcycle Show, etc., will be added in this year’s kite festival.
