On the morning of April 20th, the 30th Weifang International Kite Festival was opened at the Fuyanshan International Kite-flying Field.
Leaders attended the opening ceremony included Feng Jianzhong, deputy director of the General Administration of Sport of China and chairman of the International Kite Federation; senior provincial leaders Wang Shufang and Wang Jiuhu; Tian Houyu, head of the troops stationed in Weifang; Du Changwen, secretary of CPC Weifang Committee, Liu Shuguang, vice secretary of CPC Weifang Committee and mayor of Weifang, Cui Jianping, chairman of CPPCC Weifang Committee, and Wang Xianling, vice secretary of CPC Weifang Committee. Feng Jianzhong declared the opening ceremony of 30th Weifang International Kite Festival. Liu Shuguang presided over the ceremony.
Over 100 kite-flying delegations from home and abroad participated in the ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Liu Shuguang, on behalf of CPC Weifang Committee and Weifang Municipal People's Government, expressed warm welcome to the leaders and guests presenting at the ceremony, and extended sincere appreciation to the leaders and domestic and international friends who have been caring for and supporting Weifang International Kite Festival and the reform and development of Weifang. He said that with the caring and support from all walks of life, Weifang International Kite Festival has been held for 30 sessions and it has now grown as a cultural and sports festival with international influence and an important platform for international exchange and cooperation. He also noted that the 30th Weifang International Kite Festival is not only a milestone, but also a new start for us to further strengthen communication, friendship and cooperation to create an even better future.
Feng Jianzhong declared the opening of the ceremony.
On the same day, the "Under the Same Sky" art performance was also held. Consisting of five parts, the performance displayed the traditional culture and modern civilization of Weifang in the form of song, dance and poem, showcasing the unique and infinite charm of the city.
Weifang International Kite Festival has been held successfully for 29 sessions since its first in 1984. Following the idea of "taking the advantage of the kite festival to promote the development in culture, tourism, economy and trade", this session of kite festival highlights internationality feature and Weifang uniqueness, and gives prominence to tourism, investment and city image promotion. Sixteen theme activities in four categories of kite, tourism, culture and business promotion were held during the festival.
