Greeting Banquet Held for Guests from Taiwan

On the evening of April 11, a banquet was held in Weifang Hotel to welcome Huang Jingtai, speaker of Keelung Council, Taiwan Province and his delegation. Vice Secretary of CPC Weifang Committee Cui Jianping delivered a speech and city officials Kang Fengying, Zheng Ruzhi and leading chiefs of related government departments were present at the banquet.

Cui said in his speech that Weifang and Taiwan help supply each other in their industry and have a wide range of cooperation. Today, nearly 900 Taiwan-funded enterprises have been settled down in Weifang. Taiwan-Shandong Economic and Trade Fair has been held for 15 years in a row, which play an important role in fueling the economic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Weifang. Keelung is an industrial city opening up earlier to the outside world, its port transportation, chemical and coal industry and fish processing industry are well developed, and Keelung Port, the second largest in Taiwan, is also situated here. Weifang has the national first-class port-Weifang Sime Darby. With 12 million tons of annual handling capacity, the Port is on its way to asking official approval for direct links hub. Weifang and Keelung share fine cooperation basis and space, and we expect cooperation in higher and wider fields will be finally reached through efforts of both sides.

Cui Jianping expressed that friendly exchange and cooperation with Taiwan weigh much in boosting the economic and social development of our city. We will further optimize the development environment, improve the scale and grade of the exchange with Taiwan, make full efforts to develop the first-rate service system for investment and start-up and make equal, efficient and effective service available to every investor.

During the stay, the delegation also visited the Weifang World Kite Museum.
