To further promote Weifang's economic and trade cooperation with Honduras and Pakistan, from November 25 to 26, Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, led a delegation to Beijing to meet with Ambassador of Honduras to China Salvador Enrique Moncada, and Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi. Liu Jianjun also participated in the 2024 Pakistan-China Animal Fodder, Fruits, Vegetables Processing B2B Matchmaking Meeting. Lyu Shanshan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, also attended the related activities.
On the afternoon of November 25, Liu Jianjun and his delegation visited the Embassy of the Republic of Honduras and had an exchange with Ambassador Salvador Enrique Moncada on deepening cooperation in related fields. Liu Jianjun stated that Weifang is a major agricultural city and also a key agricultural machinery market. Agriculture is the pillar industry of Honduras' national economy, and the country has a high demand for agricultural machinery. The two sides have strong complementarities and broad prospects for cooperation. It is hoped that through better synergy, the two sides will strengthen mutual communication and realize supply and demand cooperation in agricultural technology and equipment. Ambassador Salvador Enrique Moncada highly praised Weifang's achievements in economic and social development, particularly in the agricultural sector, and expressed his willingness to carry out in-depth cooperation with Weifang in areas such as agriculture, education, technology, and culture to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
On the morning of November 26, Liu Jianjun, upon invitation, attended the 2024 Pakistan-China Animal Fodder, Fruits, Vegetables Processing B2B Matchmaking Meeting. In his speech, he stated that Weifang has a large industrial scale, a wide variety of processed products in the animal fodder and fruit and vegetable processing sectors, a complete industrial chain, and strong capabilities in scientific and technological innovation, which provide a solid industrial foundation and advantages. Pakistan has favorable agricultural resources, which are highly complementary to Weifang's agricultural industry, offering significant potential for cooperation between the two sides. Weifang is willing to work with relevant parties in Pakistan to earnestly implement the important common understandings reached between President Xi Jinping and Pakistani leaders, promote exchanges and cooperation at higher, deeper, and broader levels, and make positive contributions to jointly upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and to the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
The meeting featured a special screening of Weifang's urban promotional video, and 29 Weifang-based enterprises engaged in discussions with Pakistani businesses.
After the conference, Liu Jianjun met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi, and the two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation in related fields. Liu Jianjun emphasized that the friendship between China and Pakistan has a long history, and the relationship between Weifang and Pakistan is becoming increasingly close. He expressed hope that both sides will focus on industries, economy and trade, culture, education, and society, and work towards broader and deeper cooperation. He also looked forward to more Pakistani enterprises visiting Weifang to explore mutual development opportunities. Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi stated that he would further utilize the embassy as a bridge to promote exchanges in areas such as economic, trade, cultural, and tourism cooperation, and contribute positively to achieving a higher level of exchanges and cooperation between Pakistan and Weifang.
