On the afternoon of August 9, 2024, Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang, met with Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. João Cunha and his delegation at the comprehensive office building of the municipal authorities. Di Bo, Vice Mayor of Weifang, attended the meeting.
On behalf of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee and municipal government, Liu Jianjun warmly welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Weifang, in particular, agricultural development. He said that Weifang's agricultural development level has always been at the forefront of the province and even the country, and it is well-known nationwide for its vegetable basket, orchard, and butcher shop. Over the years, Weifang has always regarded agriculture as a key area for deepening opening up, relying on the only comprehensive experimental zone for agricultural opening and development in China, continuously expanding international cooperation and exchanges in the field of agriculture, and achieving fruitful results. Angola has unique natural conditions and basic advantages in the development of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries, providing vast opportunities for cooperation with Weifang. Liu Jianjun expressed the hope that the two sides will continue to deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, actively expand trade exchanges, further deepen exchanges and cooperation in agriculture, animal husbandry, agricultural machinery and other fields, and jointly achieve a higher level of development.
João Cunha thanked Weifang for its warm reception, and said that he will thoroughly investigate and study Weifang's successful experience in the agricultural field, constantly strengthen the connection with Weifang's high-tech agricultural enterprises, and actively promote deeper cooperation between the two sides in more fields to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development.
