2024 Shandong Third Phase Energy Industry Collaborative Development Matchmaking Conference Held

On August 6, 2024, the Third Phase Energy Industry Collaborative Development Matchmaking Conference of Shandong Province was held in Weifang. Hu Bo, Deputy Director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and Director of the Provincial Energy Administration, attended the conference. Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang, delivered a speech, and Yang Shengyan, a member of the Standing Committee of Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, was present.

Liu Jianjun, on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and government, expressed gratitude to all sectors of society for their long-term care and support for the development of Weifang. After briefly introducing Weifang's economic and social development, he stated that in recent years, Weifang has been closely focused on achieving the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" strategic goals, concentrating on green, low-carbon and high-quality energy development. The city has accelerated the improvement and efficiency of traditional energy while speeding up the development of new energy sources. As a result, the energy industry has achieved remarkable outcomes, with Weifang successfully establishing itself as one of the first batch of national collaborative innovation pilot cities for pollution and carbon reduction. Currently, the city's installed capacity of new energy ranks second in the province, with several high-quality integrated wind, solar, energy storage and transmission projects completed and put into operation. This has led to the formation of a new energy storage industry chain that includes hydrogen energy, lithium-ion batteries, flow batteries, and flywheel energy storage. Weifang is a major economic and manufacturing hub, characterized by both a substantial energy demand and robust equipment manufacturing capabilities. It is hoped to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with various energy enterprises to achieve mutually beneficial development.

At the conference, the outcomes of the previous two matchmaking sessions and policies for accelerating the high-quality development of the new energy storage industry were released. Relevant experts delivered presentations on the digital transformation of energy. Additionally, there were focused promotions on Weifang's high-quality investment attraction, green finance, and certain enterprises and service platforms. Key officials from relevant energy companies and financial institutions were in attendance.

It is reported that this matchmaking conference, hosted by the Energy Administration of Shandong Province and organized by the Weifang Municipal Development and Reform Commission, aims to promote cutting-edge technological equipment such as energy digitalization, hydrogen energy, maglev, and new energy storage, accelerating the establishment of an intelligent, green, and integrated modern energy industry system, and providing robust energy support for the establishment of a green, low-carbon, and high-quality development pioneer area.
