President Gong Qihuang of Peking University Visits Weifang for Inspection

On the morning of August 1, 2024, Gong Qihuang, President of Peking University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with his delegation, visited Weifang to investigate the construction and development of the Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences at Peking University. They also held discussions and exchanges with Li Ming, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Education Affairs Commission of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Provincial Department of Education, and Liu Yun, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, on deepening university-local government collaboration. Peking University's leaders Chen Baojian, Dong Zhiyong, Zhang Jin, and Piao Shilong attended the meeting, while Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang and Mayor Liu Jianjun and Vice Mayor Di Bo participated in the related activities.

Liu Yun welcomed Gong Qihuang and his delegation, expressing gratitude for Peking University's continuous care and support for Weifang's development. He said that Weifang is a major agricultural, education, and industrial city. Currently, Weifang is deeply studying and implementing the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Shandong. Weifang is committed to "taking the lead to be a mainstay", further deepening reform comprehensively, promoting green, low-carbon and high-quality development, and building a better Weifang with strong strength, high quality and a beautiful living environment at a faster pace. Peking University has always maintained close ties with Weifang, and both sides have continuously deepened cooperation in basic research in modern agriculture, scientific and technological research, and platform co-construction, which has yielded fruitful results. Weifang sincerely asked Peking University to continue its care for and support of Weifang, providing more support and assistance in innovation platform construction, the introduction of high-end talent, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Weifang will make every effort to create the best conditions, provide the best services, and foster the best environment, promoting the deep integration of the innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains. During his stay in Weifang, Gong Qihuang and his delegation visited the shared hall, electron microscope platform, and B2 Laboratory of the Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences at Peking University.
