Chaotian Pot is one of the three traditional famous foods of old Weixian County. It is said to have originated in the mid-Qing Dynasty at the Weixian County market. The original name was "Innards Pot". When Zheng Banqiao, the county magistrate of Weixian County, visited the market incognito, he noticed that many people couldn't get a hot meal. To address this, he asked meat vendors to set up stoves at the market, where they cooked pork offal such as heart, intestines, and liver in a pot and sold it as it cooked. Because the pot was always open and cooking outdoors, with the pot facing the sky, it became known as "Chaotian Pot" (pot facing the sky). Chaotian Pot is famous for the scene: "On market days, crowds gather by the Bailang River. In the cold wind and snow, the fire burns red, and the fragrant pot faces the sky." The dish is rich but not greasy, with a clear and light broth. Paired with thin pancakes, the flavor is endless. In 2021, it was listed as part of the seventh batch of representative projects of district-level intangible cultural heritage in Weicheng District.
