In order to earnestly implement the Implementation Opinions of the State Council on Further Strengthening the Safety of Cultural Relics and the Guiding Opinions of the Emergency Management Department of the National Cultural Heritage Administration on Further Strengthening Fire Safety Work of Cultural Relics, and ensure the fire safety of cultural relics during the May Day holiday, an inspection was carried out from May 1st to 4th in Weifang.
The inspection focused on the salient problems and hidden dangers in and around places such as ancient buildings, cultural relics warehouses, museum exhibition halls, archaeological sites, cultural relics maintenance and repair sites, and office areas. There were 171 people participating in the inspection, supervising 21 national key cultural relics protection units, 79 provincial key cultural relics protection units, 154 municipal and county-level key cultural relics protection units, and 37 museums. A total of 14 potential safety problems were discovered and rectified. Some hidden dangers found in the inspection were resolved on-site. For those couldn’t be rectified immediately, a rectification plan was required, clarifying persons-in-charge of the rectification work and a time limit for it. The inspection ensured the fire safety of cultural relics in Weifang during the festival.
