2009 China (Zhucheng) Shun Culture Festival

On July 7th morning, 2009 China (Zhucheng) Shun Culture Festival Opened in Zhucheng. Vice-Chairwoman of the National Committee of the CPPCC Zhang Meiying, Member of Provincial Standing Committee of the CPC and Head of Publicity Department of the CPC Provincial Committee Li Qun, Assistant Governor Chen Guang, Municipal leaders Zhang Xinqi, Zhao Xingtao, Liu Hongwei, Jiang Wencai, Liu Mingke, Liu Decheng, Yang Weidong and Jiang Shaohua, Commander of Weifang Military Subarea Bian Changwei presented the opening ceremony. Vice Secretary of Weifang Municipal Committee of the CPC and Mayor Xu Liquan presided over the ceremony.

Vice-Chairwoman of the National Committee of the CPPCC Zhang Meiying declared the opening of the 2009 China (Zhucheng) Shun Culture Festival.

At the opening ceremony, Member of Provincial Standing Committee of the CPC and Head of Publicity Department Li Qun and Secretary of Weifang Municipal Committee of the CPC Zhang Xinqi unveiled the statue of Shun. The former Vice Chairman of the Provincial Committee of the CPPCC and Honorary President of Shandong Shun Culture Academy Xie Yutang recited the Ode to Shun. Then the 2009 China (Zhucheng) Shun Culture Festival formally raised its curtain with ancient music and dancing titled Song of Shun, Xiao Shao Nine Movements and Universal Peace. 

After the ceremony, the national, provincial and municipal leaders attended the 2009 Summer China (Zhucheng) International Barbecue Festival. Assistant Governor Chen Guang and Member of Municipal Standing Committee of the CPC Hu Gang addressed the opening ceremony of the Barbecue Festival.

Zhucheng is the birth place of Yu Shun, one of Three Emperors and Five Sovereigns in ancient China. As head of tribal affiliation in late patrilineal society of ancient China, Yu Shun is the common humanity ancestor of Chinese nation and primogenitor of Chinese traditional moral culture as well. According to historical record, with great benevolence, righteousness and Filial Piety Shun governed the state by morality, assisted Yao in governing and held the purple for 39 years. Shun`s fine qualities are enthroned and imitated by later generations. The filial piety culture represented by Yu Shun becomes one of the basic connotations of regional culture in Zhucheng. In recent years upholding traditional culture and stressing local characteristic, Zhucheng worked hard in building the public cultural service system with a core of construction in public cultural service structure, service facilities, service organizations and service team, and set up the ``2-Kilometer Public Cultural Service Circle``. Besides, the city made all efforts to pool all cultural resources, build the Dinosaur Culture Corridor and the Shun Culture Circle, and speeded up the transform from featured cultural resource superiority to industrial superiority.

The 2009 Summer China (Zhucheng) International Barbecue Festival will be sponsored by Shandong Shun Culture Academy and Weifang Municipal People`s Government and undertaken by Zhucheng City Government, with Developing Shun`s Morality & Inheriting Civilization as the theme. A series of activities will be on the stage including International Barbecue Festival, Tourism Presentation for Places of Interests, special theatrical performance and Commendation Congress for 10 Moral Models of Zhucheng. Ambassadors or Councillors of Bulgaria and 7 other countries will attend this event. The Happy Chinese Line of CCTV will perform splendidly for the Cultural Festival.
