On the morning of March 23rd, the opening day of Shanghai Citizen Cultural Festival, the delegation of the "Weifang Kite, Friendship Messenger" activity arrived at Shanghai. At the Century Plaza of Pudong New Area, the delegation flew Weifang kites, displayed photos reflecting the culture and tourism of Weifang, and gave out over 1,000 Weifang kites on which printed the logo of the international kite capital on the spot. The amazing kite-flying performance and the colorful kites with various shapes flying in the sky added charm to Shanghai Citizen Cultural Festival.
Different from the large kites flown in the first stop Nanjing, the kites flying in Shanghai better displayed the varieties of Weifang kites. The traditional dragon-headed centipede kites, large power kites, theme kites and vivid QQ kites were all flown. Especially worth mentioning was the rainbow kites flown by several kite experts and craftsmen, the beautiful and changeable arrays in the sky won much applause of the audience.
The citizens presented with the kites at the site also joined in the kite-flying performance. The performance lasted for nearly three hours, fully displaying the unique charm of Weifang kites and further promoting Weifang. The principal of Weifang Sub-district in Pudong New Area said, taking the advantage of Shanghai Citizen Cultural Festival, the "Weifang Kite, Friendship Messenger" activity greatly promoted Weifang, and vice versa, the Shanghai festival also benefitted from the Weifang activity in that it enriched the cultural activity of Shanghai people. He hoped that in future such activity will further promote the exchange and communications between Shanghai and Weifang.
