Huadian Shandong Weifang Hydrogen Production and Refueling Integrated Station Pilot Project Commences

On July 16, the Huadian Shandong Weifang Hydrogen Production and Refueling Integrated Station Pilot Project commenced in the Weifang High-tech Industrial Development Zone. Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang, and Dong Fengliang, Deputy Chief Engineer of China Huadian Corporation, Party Secretary, and Executive Director of Huadian Shandong Company, attended the groundbreaking ceremony and delivered speeches. City leaders Yang Shengyan and Wang Fu were also present.

Liu Jianjun, on behalf of the municipal party committee and government, extended congratulations on the commencement of the project and expressed gratitude to Huadian Shandong Company for its long-term support for the development of Weifang. He said that energy is the lifeline of the national economy. Over the years, Huadian Shandong Company has played an important role in the energy supply of Weifang. The project that has commenced is the only hydrogen energy storage demonstration project in the province, a key special project of the "Hydrogen Energy Technology" under the National Key Research and Development Program of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and it holds significant importance for the development of the hydrogen energy industry. The Weifang High-tech Industrial Development Zone and relevant municipal departments must fully ensure service and support, working with Huadian Shandong Company to accelerate the construction, production, and operational effectiveness of the project. It is hoped that Huadian Shandong Company will continue to focus on and support Weifang, bringing more high-quality projects and resources to the city, contributing to its high-quality development. We will continue to provide comprehensive services, ensuring strong support for the development of enterprises.

Dong Fengliang, on behalf of Huadian Shandong Company and all parties involved in the project, expressed gratitude to Weifang for its strong support in implementing and constructing the project. He stated that Huadian Shandong Company will seize the major opportunity presented by the "Hydrogen into Thousands of Households" technology demonstration project, actively integrate into the economic and social development needs of Weifang, provide maximum resource support and the best policy guarantees for the project, and strive to create a model for the hydrogen energy industry that can be both promoted and scaled.

It is understood that the project is planned to be constructed in two phases, with a total planned system capacity of 105MW. The commencement of this project marks the full entry of the Huadian Shandong Weifang Hydrogen Production and Refueling Integrated Station Pilot Project into the construction phase. After the project is put into operation, it will effectively reduce the pressure on hydrogen demand in Weifang and meet the hydrogen needs of Weichai Power Co., Ltd. in hydrogen fuel cell research and development, hydrogen refueling stations, and hydrogen fuel cell buses. At the same time, it will greatly reduce the costs of hydrogen transportation and storage, effectively promoting the rapid development of Weifang's hydrogen energy industry and fully supporting the development of Weifang as a "hydrogen energy city".
