On August 27, the Qingdao municipal party and government inspection delegation visited Weifang and held a symposium on accelerating the integrated development of Qingdao and Weifang, aiming to strengthen ties and deepen cooperation between the two cities, and inject strong momentum into accelerating the development of the Qingdao metropolitan area and enhancing new advantages for the Shandong Peninsula city cluster. Zeng Zanrong, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee, attended and delivered a speech. Liu Yun, Secretary of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang, Li Aijie, Chairman of the Weifang Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, and Guo Fei, Deputy Secretary of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee, attended the event. Municipal leaders from both cities, including Geng Tao, Song Mingjie, Tian Minli, Di Bo, and Zhao Wenjun, participated in relevant activities.

In his speech, Zeng Zanrong said that General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized at the Central Urban Work Conference the need to develop modern urban agglomerations and metropolitan areas in a group-based and networked manner. Promoting the integration of Qingdao and Weifang is a concrete action to implement Xi Jinping's important instructions and a key measure for the provincial party committee and government to advance the integrated development of the Jiaodong Economic Circle and the development of the Qingdao metropolitan area. Qingdao and Weifang are geographically adjacent and closely connected by human relations. In recent years, exchanges and cooperation have become increasingly frequent, yielding a series of practical results. Moving forward, it is hoped that the two cities will fully leverage their respective advantages, deepen alignment and cooperation, and continuously improve the level of integrated urban development. They should further strengthen industrial and technological cooperation, focusing on intelligent manufacturing, emerging industries, and modern agriculture, enhance upstream and downstream coordination along industrial chains, promote collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research institutes, and jointly advance the building, extension, supplementation, and strengthening of industrial chains. Infrastructure connectivity should be further improved, key projects accelerated, and regional openness and cooperation promoted. The institutional mechanisms for integrated development should be refined, and mutual recognition, interconnection, and resource sharing in government services, education, healthcare, cultural tourism, and other areas should be advanced. Efforts should be made to take the lead in regional coordinated development and contribute to building a modern and strong province.

Liu Yun expressed gratitude to Qingdao for supporting Weifang's development. He said that since last year, Weifang has adhered to the principles of Party committee and government promotion, enterprise leadership, complementary advantages, and win-win development. Together with Qingdao, it has promoted coordinated mechanisms, integrated transportation networks, interconnected industries, advanced technological collaboration, and improved public services, continuously achieving new progress in the integrated development of Qingdao and Weifang. Weifang will thoroughly implement the decisions of the CPC Central Committee and the work requirements of the provincial party committee and government, proactively integrate in all aspects, deepen cooperation across multiple fields, and strengthen collaboration with Qingdao in industrial cooperation, technological innovation, smooth infrastructure connectivity, and livelihood protection, jointly painting a new picture of Qingdao-Weifang integrated development and setting a national benchmark for urban integration.

During their visit to Weifang, the delegation inspected the hydrodynamic platform at Laoshan Laboratory, the historical and cultural block of Fangtze Eurotown, the National Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Center of Weichai Holding Group, and the Lovol high-end agricultural equipment intelligent manufacturing project.
