On August 8, Weifang held a consultation meeting on responding to heavy rainfall at the Municipal Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters. Liu Jianjun, Deputy Secretary of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Weifang, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech, with Lyu Shanshan, member of the Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor, in attendance.

Liu Jianjun emphasized that at present, the city is in a critical period for flood control, and the current round of rainfall is intense with large cumulative precipitation, placing higher demands on flood control and drought relief efforts. All levels and relevant departments must raise their awareness, resolutely overcome complacency and a mentality of luck, implement flood control measures in detail, and ensure a safe and smooth flood season. Attention should be paid to monitoring, forecasting, and early warning, strengthening joint monitoring among meteorological, water resources, agriculture, and rural departments, closely tracking changes in rainfall, water levels, and soil moisture, and fully preventing and responding to rapid shifts between drought and flood. Key areas, including mountain flood and geological disaster-prone sites, low-lying urban flood-prone areas, chemical parks, and mines, should undergo comprehensive risk and hazard inspections to strengthen the flood safety line of defense. Emergency response plans should be improved, with coordinated allocation of machinery, materials, and personnel to ensure rapid and efficient response in the event of an emergency. Responsibilities of all parties must be tightened and enforced, strictly implementing systems such as leadership on duty, 24-hour shifts, and information reporting, thereby weaving a comprehensive safety net for flood control and drought relief.

At the meeting, the Municipal Meteorological Bureau reported on the weather situation and forecasts, while the Municipal Water Resources Bureau, Zhucheng City, and Changyi City respectively reported on their responses to this round of heavy rainfall.
