Zhucheng Roasted Meat is a meat-based grilled food originating from Zhucheng, Shandong. Its history can be traced back over 2,000 years to the Han Dynasty. Early research and evidence from Han tomb carvings and related historical documents indicate that the creators of Zhucheng Roasted Meat were local cooks, the equivalent of modern chefs. Detailed descriptions of Zhucheng Roasted Meat can be found in the carved images from the tomb of Sun Cong from the Han Dynasty, proving that Zhucheng is the birthplace of this roasting tradition. With a history spanning over two millennia, Zhucheng Roasted Meat was listed in the first batch of representative projects of Weifang's municipal intangible cultural heritage in 2007.
